At the beginning of 2026 my family and I moved to a cottage in North Yorkshire that overlooks a farm. I knew the open landscape would bring me peace day to day, but I didn't realise how captivated we all would be by farm life and the creatures we get to observe.

We have all become quite fond of them, often talking to them and even naming a few as if they are our pets. We look forward to seeing what they are up to each day, and we also enjoy observing how the change of seasons affects their life and habits. They bring us joy, make us chuckle at times and have as a whole positively influenced our well being.

Sometimes I bring my coffee up to the best window in the house and just sit watching them lay, stand, eat, roam, graze, run, and waddle...or for some, fly away. Their presence continually draws my attention and frequents my conversation, and because of that I have been inspired to paint them.
