Let's Talk Commissions

Want to bring your vision to life with a one-of-a-kind piece for your home or to give as a gift?

Commissioning an artwork gives you the opportunity to add a unique & personal touch.

By sharing your vision, you are essentially co-creating a piece with the artist that reflects either your own or your chosen recipient's personality, tastes, lifestyle preferences, memories or story.

Together we can create a special piece that you or your loved one will cherish for a lifetime!

Collapsible content

1. Initial Consultation

Leslee will ask questions to clarify your vision, desired materials, size needed, timeframe & budget.

2. Drafting the Proposal

A proposal will be drafted outlining the scope of work for the art piece and sent to the client for review.

3. Commission Agreement

Once the scope of work is agreed upon, a commission agreement, terms & deposit invoice will be sent to the client. The artwork will not commence until the deposit (50% of commission total) is received by LJS.

4. Creation Phase

This phase includes the entire development of the artwork. LJS may provide occasional updates on the piece's progress during this time.

5. Final Preparations

During this phase, the finalised piece will be presented to the client.

A final invoice will also be sent including the remaining 50% of the commission total + delivery fees and any other options the client may choose such as matting and framing.

Depending on the type of artwork, a protective finish may be applied during this phase, as well as matting and framing if selected.

6. Delivery & Satisfaction

Once the final invoice payment has been received, LJS will arrange secure packaging and delivery.

We look forward to our client's satisfaction of the commissioned artwork and appreciate any reviews & testimonials thereafter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collapsible content

What if I don't know what I want exactly?

This is totally fine. Some clients come with a very clear picture/idea of what they would like for the artwork and others come with more of a desire or feeling and message they want to convey through the artwork.

During the initial consultation phase Leslee will ask you lots of questions to help narrow down the idea and come up with the ideal vision for your commissioned piece. If necessary, Leslee will also work up some rough sketches with different ideas and compositions to help you see the options.

What sizes do you offer?

Currently Leslee works in small to medium sizes ranging from 5x7in to around 11x14in or A5-A3sizes.

If you are unsure whether the sizing you need will work, please get in touch. Each commission request will be considered and treated on a case x case basis.

How long does a commission take?

On average, commissions can take 3+ months to complete. However the timeline will depend on how it fits in with other projects and commissions in Leslee's schedule.

When you have your initial consultation, Leslee will gather details about your commission request including any time parameters for the artwork completion, finishing with framing if selected, etc.

How much does commissioning Leslee cost?

At the moment, Leslee does not have set prices due to the varied nature of commission requests.

After an initial consultation, Leslee will draft a proposal and deposit invoice which outlines the scope of work, requirements, and pricing. This will account for the level of detail and time put in for the artwork, as well as the type of materials used. These documents will then be sent to the client for review.

Please note: The client is under no obligations to proceed until the Commission Agreement & terms are accepted and the deposit paid.
